Thanksgiving Day, Roy Rogers and Old Photos
The blog for collectors, accumulators and hoarders of neat stuff.
Country Joe's Collectibles the home of lots of neat collectible stuff.
Well it's almost "Turkey Day" here in the USA, a day off and lot's of good food for many. And if you are among those that have please donate to the food kitchens etc. for those that don't have. It is also the unofficial beginning of the holiday shopping season.
Picked up a few neat items last week and have added some to the shop this week. A few are:
Char-009 Roy Rogers Cup
Vintage plastic Roy Rogers cup, has Roy Rogers on front of hat. Marked F&F Mold & Die Works, Dayton, Ohio. Made in U.S.A. About 4-1/4 inches tall. Nice condition.
Photo-069 Pony with Cart Photo
Vintage photo of pony track with pony pulling cart and people in cart. Approx. 5x7 inches, marked June 1944 on back.
Photo-070 Little Girl Washing Car Photo

Ctry-012 Quick Loader Insect Powder Gun
Quick Loaders were one of the more common types of insect powder guns or dusters. They were manufactured by the American Can Co., New York, Chicago, San Francisco and came in many different colors. Most people believe these were used to load gun powder into guns, but the original intent was for insect control. Canvas center panel is a little stiff but still usable. Great for that general store collection.

Vintage postcards: Bedford Springs Golf Course; Flamingos Nesting; Old Orchard Beach, Maine; Park Drive, Brandywine Park etc.

Christmas, Real Photo and New York Postcards
Welcome to Collectibles at Country Joe's.
The blog for collectors, accumulators and hoarders of neat stuff.
Well, last Saturdays auction seemed to go pretty good, still messing with the paperwork. Buyer still seem to be holding back, not sure if it's a local area thing or a tightening of the economy in general. Controled myself and didn't buy much for a change, gotta get what I already have organized and listed in the shops. New Years Day Auction is the next one so hopefully I can get some neat stuff together for that sale.
Depending on the weather, rain or no rain, I might setup at the market tomorrow and push out some assorted stuff that has accumulated in the corners of the storage unit. Maybe even make a few bucks.
Added some Christmas postcards to the shop also some New York postcards and some real photo postcards. Going to work on more postcards and paper for next couple of weeks.
Actually going to consentrate of realigning the shops to where they originally were.
Advertising collectibles and tins, vintage kitchenware, graniteware and country store stuff, vintage razors and other shaving collectibles, vintage paper and postcards. Also miniatures, doll house furniture, sterling silver and some costume jewelry.
Less glassware, china and figurines and hard to ship items. PLus postage rates are nut's. But you know what happens a deal shows up and well there goes the plan.
Ever wonder how you started to collect whatever it is you collect?
See ya, Country Joe

Antique Graniteware and Enamelware
Collecting Vintage Graniteware and Enamelware
Need to add some color to your kitchen or just want that country look? How about collecting or decorating with enamelware, also known as graniteware. Enameled kitchenware was first mass-produced in Europe, in the last quarter of the 19th century, where it was manufactured in England, France, Germany, and elsewhere. The artisans of these countries brought their trade secrets to our shores when they arrived as immigrants. In time, American enameled items came to be called graniteware -- a term that may have arisen from the popularity of Granite Iron Ware, a line first produced in 1876 by the St. Louis Stamping Co.
Enamelware was made up until the 1940's, but newer pieces were made during the 70's and are still being made. The newer pieces are normally lighter in weight, made cheaper and don't have that earlier look. Many vintage pieces will have chips and dings from daily use and that shouldn't deter you from collecting them.
There were many types of kitchen and household items made, also toys. Enamelware was made in many colors and combinations. There were hundreds of different patterns made over the years. Some pieces are very affordable given their age and some can be very expensive due to scarcity. But the nice thing is that you can set a price range and pretty much make a nice collection within your budget.
We have been buying and selling graniteware for many years and have had little items up to a large cooking pot that was about the size of half of a 55 gallon drum.
We have nice selection of interesting antique and vintage graniteware pieces in our shop. Many that are normally difficult to find. A few of these pieces are the more common, pots and pans, pie pans, colanders of all types (look great hanging on the wall), baking pans, funnels, cups, bowls, pottys, ladles, dippers and other utensils. A few harder to find muffin tins, chamber sticks, coffee pots, small buckets, cream cans, cake molds. Also rarer pieces like flasks, lunch buckets, oil bottles, blue - white swirl cuspidor / spitoon, a few toys and a graniteware deep fryer (the first I have ever seen).

Neat collectibles and ramblings by Country Joe
Welcome to Collectibles at Country Joe's.
The blog for collectors, accumulators and hoarders of neat stuff.
Country Joe's Collectibles the home of lots of neat collectible stuff.
Okay, I didn't set up at the market on Friday, was low 30' when I got up and these old bones said no go. Those days of setting up in just about any weather are past.
We hit a few yard sales yesterday morning (Sat.), got more stuff, not as good as last week though. But stuff none the less, do we need more stuff? Of course I always need more stuff. What would life be without more stuff? And I didn't setup yesterday either due to low numbers on the therometer. So I spent some time taking a few pictures and one finger typing a few descriptions of items to add to the shop.
Also we added another cat to the animal pile last week, an older lady who lived across the creek from us passed away and there was no one to take the cat so Jan said I guess we could take her. So the daughter delivered it the next day. Think we're back up to 10 again. Never boring around here.
A few new items added to the shop;
Pennsylvania Turnpike Plate, Howard Johnson's; Dolphin Salt & Pepper Shakers, Florida; Washington, D.C. Salt & Pepper; Flintstones Glass, Golf; Flintstones Glass, Freds Invention; Porcelain Invalid or Infant Feeder; St. Lawrence Seaway Glass; Sixteen Small Perfume Bottles; A. Towle Company, Brass Letter Opener; Barclay Green Sleigh; Barclay Skier Figure; White Cream Pitcher; Little Girl, Wicker Carriage Figurine; Decorative Porcelain Egg;

Neat collectibles Glass, China etc, Strange Weather
Welcome to ramblings by Country Joe.
Ok, we had fall, winter and spring weather this week, rain, sun wind etc. jacket on, jacket off. Making me crazy. Of course Friday and Sunday will probably be cold because I'm going to the flea market to move some more stuff out of the truck, also a few dollars won't hurt.
Changing from daylight savings time to standaerd has the dog totally confused. Doesn't know when he's supposed to get fed. So he just hangs out in the kitchen.
Just a few neat items we dug out of the "Zillion Item Hoard" and added to our collectibles shop.
Old Fashion Glass Shoe / Roller Skate; Clear Glass Roller Skate; Small Nippon Pitcher; Meito China Cream Pitcher; Small Japan Pitcher; Small Pitcher with Roses; Royal Worchester Covered Jar, Palissy; Westmoreland Swan Toothpick Holder; Cas-Cola Soda Glass; Covered Pottery Box, Italy; Covered Glass Coach, Dresser Box; 3 Gazelle Glasses; Pink Opalescent Hobnail Dish, Fenton; Sandland Falstaff Character Mug; Wedgwood Ashtray w/ Eagle; Arklow Bread Plate; Noritake Demitasse Cup and Saucer; Black Doll in Tribal Costume; Black Trapeze Artist Toy; Small celluloid cow figures; Del Monte Christmas Yumkins; Vintage 1950's Paper Party Hats; Dear Santa, Collectors Plate; Allied Van Lines Cloth Advertising Doll; Primitive Wooden Clacker, Fire Alarm; Wood Match Holder, Dutch Scene;
Stop by our vintage christmas collectibles page. Tis the season coming up.
