Survived the auction Saturday night, but it was a tough one. Probably the toughest one in several years. Combination of light crowd, lots of other stuff going on that day, flea markets, several town-wide sales, a few on-site auctions, nice weather etc. All the stuff you don't need on auction day. Plus a bit light on better consignments, oh well that's the way it goes sometimes. Guess the economy ain't helping any either. But hey maybe the stock market investors will turn to collectible stuff, ya think?

Anyway we sold lots of stuff and I bought some goodies so I probably will come out okay in the end.

Sunday morning we headed out to hit some yard sales and pick a few curbs after the townwide sale a few miles from the house, ok about 10. Actually picked up a few things at the yard sales and a few decent curb pickings (flea market type stuff). Then sorta didn't do much the rest of the day, bones was hurtin' from the long day at the auction. Starting to think maybe I'm not as young as I was years ago.

Advertising thermometer / bank from the Oasis Bar, Joe Verrilli, Prop. 1000 First Ave. Asbury Park, N.J. Plastic grandfather clock shape, about 7 inches tall, has coin slot in back, the bank closure is taped on.

Vintage advertising ashtray from Arrow Electrical Wiring Devices, heavy pottery with matchbox holder. Has small chip in the glaze on part that holds matchbox. Number 3000 on the bottom.

Circular gold tone brooch from Napier in the original case. Marked Napier in script. Napier closed in 1999. Great condition.

Has some water staining on cover, top corner crease. Color and black & white illustrations. The "moving picture" that could be cut out and assembled is intact. Approximately 13 x 9 inches. 24 pages, stiff paper stock. Inside intact.
